Back the South West this Christmas and New Year with Food and Fibre Great South Coast

Food and Fibre Great South Coast (FFCSC) has launched its first community fundraiser to drive industry prosperity and community wellbeing forward in South West Victoria over the coming year.

One of FFGSC’s two Deputy Chairs, Oonagh Kilpatrick, said Food and Fibre Great South Coast had gone from strength to strength in representing the nation’s agricultural powerhouse, and it’s time to take the next step.

“Food and Fibre Great South Coast is a small but mighty operation with ambitious goals and real plans to achieve them. Even though we always miss out on state and federal funding, we manage to punch well above our weight and deliver on the most pressing issues for our entire regional community.

This Christmas and New Year, we’re asking people to stand with us in driving our region forward by donating to Food and Fibre Great South Coast’s first Back the South West appeal,” Kilpatrick said.

Whether it’s working across government and industry to realise the water opportunity, building the future of the region’s workforce or celebrating leadership for all seasons, FFGSC is a tiny organisation with a sizable remit towards securing our future prosperity.

By donating $5 or more to our community appeal, donors will go in the running to win a large, framed canvas print of an artwork depicting the Hopkins River by Kirrae and Peek Wurrong woman of the Gundjitmara nation, Merindah-Gunya. Runners-up will receive one of three children’s books by local marine biologists Dr Prue Francis and Dr Paul Venzo.

FFGSC’s other Deputy Chair, Martin Clark, said the representative body was proud to help share the important work of these talented artists and storytellers.

“These works celebrate the magnificent environment that feeds and fuels our lives, and we couldn’t be more pleased to showcase their creators by giving them away as prizes in our Back the South West appeal,” Clark said.

Prizes will be on show at FFGSC’s Great South Coast Sustainable Water Forum on 15 February 2022 and drawn at the International Women’s Day Leadership for All Seasons event on 22 March 2023.

Through our community partnership with South West Community Foundation, all donations are tax deductible and go towards backing local industry for sustainable growth for our community now and in the years to come.
