What

Food and Fibre Great South Coast Inc. is aligning for impact to further the region’s enormous economic potential through food and fibre.

We engage with First Nations communities across the Food and Fibre sector within the Great South Coast. 

Supporting long term environmental, social and economic sustainability in our region, we seek to advocate and add value for our regional food and fibre sector in a fast changing environmental, social, economic and technological context. 

Whilst being politically neutral, we are proactive and engaged with decision-making processes that impact our purpose. We engage, advise and advocate across different levels of government and the community.  

Our primary audiences are our food and fibre sector and stakeholders. We are a public-facing organisation and we take opportunities to assist our partners and members to proactively engage our wider communities and consumers.  

As a cross-sectoral body we collaborate, facilitate, convene, and empower people and organisations toinnovate ideas in a way that fundamentally assist our region to grow and develop. 

Act as an interface between all levels of government, industry and primary producers – with a focus on growing the Great South Coast.    

We operate as a source of referral within the region regarding market advice and awareness 

We are inclusive across the entire Food and Fibre Supply Chain. 

 

DRIVE value-add across the Great South Coast region

We will use our depth of knowledge across the different food and fibre commodities withing our region, to connect people and to catalyse and facilitate opportunities for innovation and investment.

We will evaluate opportunities and mobilise our strong /diverse networks of interest/support to enable the development of regional solutions and outcomes.

Measures:

Activities that are convened must be shown to yield demonstrable results.

 

ADVOCATE for regional sustainability, wellbeing, and adaptation

We proactively collaborate and engage with policy decision-makers to advise and advocate on issues that impact food and fibre productivity, regional sustainability, wellbeing, and adaptation in our region.

On issues that we cannot drive or deliver directly, we connect our members with decision-makers, researchers, and innovation expertise to influence system-wide directions.

Measures:

Influence and relevance as an advocate and collaborator with others on priority issues.

 

CHAMPION the Great South Coast as Australia’s premier food and fibre region.

We will focus on branding and marketing of our sectors, data, and evidence to demonstrate the case for investment and support initiatives that build innovation capability and capacity in our sector.

Retention of our region’s #1 status with ABARES is the longer-term goal.

Measures:

Brand and profile measures of the region with our priority audiences.

 

SUSTAIN our organisation to serve our communities in the longer term.

We will plan and measure our progress with regard to strategic governance; financial and risk management; pursue diversification of funding including tax deductibility for donations; communications and stakeholder engagement including through periodic Strategic Issues Forums; and plan for internal infrastructure requirements including technology.

Measures:

Metrics demonstrate continual improvement, are overseen regularly by our Board and reported periodically as part of our accountability to stakeholders.
