Regional Drought Resilience Plan Water Preparedness
Food and Fibre Great South Coast (FFGSC) are currently leading a project to enhance water preparedness for agricultural businesses in the Great South Coast and Barwon regions, as part of Regional Drought Resilience Plan implementation. This water preparedness project aims to position both regions to be better prepared for a future with less water, particularly over the next 10 to 15 years. FFGSC have partnered with RMCG to:
Β§ Review current and future priority regional water initiatives and existing infrastructure, and
Β§ Improve understanding and promote adoption of water conservation measures on-farm.
Talking to farmers and irrigators, industry groups, and water resource managers is critical to better understand the issues and opportunities for water preparedness under drought conditions in the region. In particular, interviews with farmers and irrigators will help to build a picture of current water preparedness actions, understanding, information and support needs of this important stakeholder group. The insights gained from this engagement will be crucial for the development of targeted and effective extension material to promote further adoption of water conservation measures on-farm.

Pasture 365
Pasture 365 is a research project aiming to find forage mixes that could potentially provide feed for all 365 days of the year.
Agriculture Victoria is measuring whether species-diverse pastures can grow feed all year round to negate the summer-autumn feed gap.
