Drought Preparedness Workshop

Drought Preparedness Workshops - Presentations & Fact Sheets

Drought preparedness workshops on 19 & 20 May 2026 provided practical on-farm advice and information on water management, soil health and biodiversity to help on-farm drought preparedness and resilience.

The combined workshop presentations are available for download. We heard from:

  • Johnny Gardner (Gardner Farms) - on Gardner Farms’ approach to drought resilience

  • Ben Fleay (Precision Ag) - on soil health and maximising productivity through variable rate application

  • Oli Madgett (GXLab) - on soil health, resilience, and opportunities for on-farm carbon (soil and trees) including baseline assessments

  • Steve Rafferty (Ocean2Earth) - on regenerative soil health and application of biological fertilisation

  • Alex Lewis and Mary Knight (Glenelg-Hopkins CMA) - on catchment scale water and biodiversity management through to on-farm water, soil and biodiversity management

  • Karen O'Keefe (Corangamite CMA) - on sustainable agriculture and soil monitoring

  • Dennis Watson (AgVic) - on sustainable irrigation and recent trends to improve feed productivity and stock and domestic water reticulation

  • Carl Larson (RMCG) - on an overview of the Water Preparedness to Improve Drought Resilience and Natural Resource Preparedness to Improve Drought Resilience reports as they apply to farms
