On-Farm Fact Sheets

Read and download our fact sheets which provide practical on-farm advice and information on water management, soil health and biodiversity to help on-farm drought preparedness and resilience.

These fact sheets on water, soil and biodiversity have been developed in response to the Water Preparedness to Improve Drought Resilience and Natural Resource Preparedness to Improve Drought Resilience reports. There is an opportunity to improve landholder and community awareness of important natural assets that are at risk from drought or dry conditions through better communications relevant to south-west Victoria.

The purpose of these documents is to support best-practice management of natural assets by farmers as part of their drought preparation activities. Each resource contains information on:

  • Why that natural resource is important

  • What can be done to improve its condition, resilience and/or security

  • How these actions can be implemented

  • Who can support you to do work on your farm relating to these areas

  • Where to find further information.

It should be noted that each resource is complementary, and that water, soil and biodiversity are all interconnected. As a result, management of these resources should be integrated. Consideration should be given to how management actions may positively or negatively impact different areas of a farm.
