Change at the helm of Food Fibre Great South Coast
Food & Fibre Great South Coast farewell their CEO, Nicole Newman, after two years
at the helm of the representative body.
Ms Newman has played a key role in elevating the Great South Coast, leading
initiatives such as the Food and Fibre Showcase and the “Your Neck of the Woods”
film series. She has represented the region at EvokeAg and partnered with Deakin
University to engage prospective investors, and more recently initiated the Future
Farming Forum to drive discussion on emerging agricultural opportunities across the
region.
Chair, Oonagh Kilpatrick, thanked Ms Newman for her leadership over the past two
years, her support for local producers, and her advocacy for the region to all levels of
government.
“The past two years have been some of the most challenging for primary producers
in the Great South Coast, with drought and uncertain commodity prices, and Nicole
has been a tireless advocate representing these issues in Spring Street, as well as
working to develop the Drought Resilience Plan and our soon to be released Water
and Natural Resource Preparedness Plan,” she said.
“Nicole has also worked to raise the profile of our not-for-profit organisation, meeting
with producers across the region, and showcasing ongoing projects at Sheepvention
and through various social media platforms, as well enhancing our online presence
through a revamped website.
“On behalf of the board and our local communities I thank Nicole for her efforts and
wish her all the best in her future endeavours,” Ms Kilpatrick said.
